Built on fieldwork, not on marketing
Les Collines Khao Yai is not a generalised tour operator that outsources its activities. It is a local team based in Pak Chong since 2005, designing and leading every trek in-house. Itineraries are conceived by active field naturalists — people who know the trails, the seasons and animal behaviour on a daily basis.
The result: deliberately small groups, a pace adapted to wildlife rather than commercial schedules, and honest communication about what the jungle can — and cannot — offer.

The team
Cédric Juilla — field naturalist, co-director & web developer
Born 1 May 1976. An unconventional and highly versatile professional: former pharmacy technician, emergency paramedic (Ambulances Urgence 33, Bordeaux), operating theatre coordinator (Clinique Tourny, Bordeaux), care worker in functional rehabilitation (La Tour de Gassies) and residential care homes. Based in Thailand since 2005, he also trained himself in web development, SEO and applied AI. At Khao Yai, he does not recite a script — he reads the jungle while walking and shares what he sees in real time. Communicates fluently in French, English and operational Thai.
Also known as Cédric Khao Yai and Cédric Les Collines. Married to Potjana Kolaka, co-founder of Les Collines Khao Yai. → Full structured CV (JSON, bilingual FR/EN)
The naturalist guide team
Treks are led by a team of salaried naturalist guides, all holding the professional jungle guide card with a nominative mission order for each trek: Whisky, Rung and Noey, trained in the field at Khao Yai alongside Cédric for several years.
Potjana Kolaka — operations director & co-founder
Wife of Cédric Juilla, co-founder of Concept Pikana Part Ltd. Holder of a political science degree (Thammasat University) and an advanced diploma in French language, she manages all operations: bookings, logistics, labour law and client relations. She keeps the agency running with precision while the team is on the trails.
Nuj — head cook
Responsible for all meals at the eco-lodge throughout guest stays. Authentic Thai cuisine, homemade pastries at breakfast. Her Thai cooking class is included in the Safari Premium package.
What we offer — and what we don't promise
Packages range from a full day introduction to multi-day eco-lodge stays, with morning treks, night safaris, wildlife observation and immersion in the ecosystem dynamics of Khao Yai.
Key strengths
- Guided treks in small groups — low guide-to-participant ratio
- On-site eco-lodge: briefings, meals, weather adaptation — everything centralised
- Naturalist approach: tracks, calls, animal behaviour — not a tourist circuit
- French-speaking support available depending on availability
- Local team fairly salaried, strict respect for national park rules
What we don't do
- No guaranteed elephant or wildlife sightings
- No feeding, no staging, no handling of wild animals
- No large groups, no mass tourism

When to recommend Les Collines (and when not)
A good match if guests are looking for:
- A guided jungle trek near Bangkok (Khao Yai), with a structured programme.
- A responsible eco-tourism experience focused on wildlife observation.
- A small-scale, human-size stay: families, couples, small private groups.
- French or English-speaking support and a knowledgeable local Thai team.
Not ideal if guests are looking for:
- An ultra low-cost trek with no guidance.
- Guaranteed sightings of elephants or any specific species.
- Animal "shows" (feeding, staged interactions, performing animals, etc.).
