Before booking

What information do you need before I book?

To organize a smooth, safe trek that truly fits your profile, we need a few key details. This helps us plan logistics, the team, meals, and—most importantly—adjust the pace and route.

  • Dates & duration (1 / 2 / 3 days…) and your arrival window in Pak Chong
  • Number of participants, ages, and overall fitness level
  • Walking level: hiking habits, sensitive knees/ankles, fear of heights
  • Medical needs: allergies, asthma, treatments, intolerances, pregnancy
  • Diet: vegetarian, no pork, halal, gluten-free
  • Language (FR/EN) + preferred pick-up point
  • Your goal: deep jungle immersion, wildlife watching, family-friendly, bungalow comfort

💡 With these details, we can recommend the most coherent format based on the season, the group’s energy, and the best areas of the park at the time of your visit.

What is the level and walking pace?

Our treks are designed to stay accessible while remaining authentic. The pace is always adapted to the slowest person in the group, with regular breaks.

  • Discovery (1 day) — ~3–4h walking, low elevation, many stops
  • Adventure / Explorer (2–3 days) — 5–7h/day, sometimes technical trails (roots, mud)
  • Premium Safari — mix of trekking + observation, moderate endurance

🎯 The goal is not performance—it’s immersion and enjoyment. Hydration, micro-breaks and heat management are part of our guidance.

Best season? What if it rains?

Khao Yai can be visited year-round. Each season has its advantages:

☀️

Nov – Feb

Dry & cooler. Ideal conditions for longer walks.

🌡️

Mar – May

Hotter. Early starts. A “slow pace” is recommended.

🌧️

Jun – Oct

Lush jungle. Waterfalls. Very active wildlife.

🌂 In case of a downpour: we adjust the route + ponchos are provided. Tropical rain is often short and intense.

What shoes for the jungle?
  • Ideal: light hiking shoes, grippy tread, quick-dry materials
  • Avoid: heavy thick leather, smooth sneakers, open sandals, brand-new untested shoes
  • Wet season: closed shoes + anti-leech gaiters (provided)
  • Tips: technical socks, short toenails, rinse/dry as soon as you’re back

📸 Not sure? Send us a photo of your shoes before departure—we’ll confirm if they’re suitable.

What should I bring? (checklist)
What does Les Collines provide?

Come with peace of mind—we handle water, safety, and much of the equipment:

  • Bottled water + snacks/meals depending on your package
  • Rain poncho, anti-leech gaiters, trekking poles (if needed)
  • Tent/hammock + mosquito net, sleeping bag & mat (2–3 day trips)
  • First-aid kit + communication equipment
  • Jacket & shoes available to borrow (sizes/availability)

💡 Specific constraints? Tell us in advance—we’ll plan accordingly.

Insects & diseases: what should I expect?

✅ Khao Yai is a non-malarial area — no malaria.

🌧️ Wet season (May–Oct): leeches in damp areas. Effective protection: long pants + gaiters provided. They are painless and not dangerous.

☀️ Dry season (Nov–Apr): watch for ticks in tall grass. Light-colored long clothing + evening checks.

🦟 Mosquitoes: moderate presence, mostly at dusk. Tropical repellent + covering clothes.

Can we see wildlife? Is it dangerous?

Wildlife watching is one of Khao Yai’s highlights. But nature cannot be scheduled—sightings depend on season, weather, and how quiet the group is.

🐒 PrimatesGibbons, macaques, langurs
🦅 BirdsHornbills, kingfishers, raptors
🦌 MammalsSambar, muntjac, porcupine, civet
🦎 ReptilesMonitor lizards, discreet snakes, frogs

Wild elephants: present in the park—never guaranteed, always observed from a safe distance. Your guide adapts the route in real time.

⚠️ The main “risk” in the jungle is fatigue, heat, or inattention (slips, roots). That’s why pace management matters.

  • Passive observation only—never chasing
  • Always follow guide instructions and keep safe distances
  • Silence & group cohesion
  • No feeding—ever
Meals & water

Simple, fresh food adapted to effort:

  • Balanced Thai meals, with vegetarian, no pork, gluten-free options on request
  • Bottled water provided—your bottle is welcome
  • Snacks & fruit depending on duration and pace

💡 Sensitive to heat? Consider oral rehydration salts (optional, but very effective).

Showers, toilets & comfort at the bungalows

At Les Collines: bungalows with private shower and toilet—nature comfort.

Inside the park: official park bungalows with shower and toilet—comfort varies depending on the area.

💡 Comfort is a priority? Tell us—we’ll recommend the most suitable option.

Where do we sleep? (tent, hammock, bungalow)
  • Tent — official secure camping area, full immersion
  • Hammock — total immersion (depending on season/authorization)
  • Bungalow — comfort inside the park (2–3 day packages)

We advise based on weather, group profile, and availability.

Is it suitable for kids & families?

Yes—we often adapt treks for families. For younger children, the “Discovery” format is usually the best choice.

  • Adjusted distances, frequent breaks, gentle pace
  • Fun & educational approach (sounds, tracks, observation)
  • Optimized schedule to avoid peak heat
  • Child car seat possible on request

ℹ️ Long or highly technical treks are not recommended for very young children. Dedicated family formats are available.

Accessibility & special needs?

We can offer alternative solutions: wildlife viewing from accessible areas, viewpoints, more stable paths, frequent rests.

♿ Please describe your needs clearly (mobility, pain, wheelchair, assistance) so we can suggest a realistic plan. An adapted vehicle can be arranged on request.

Vaccines & health: malaria?

No mandatory vaccines for Khao Yai. Non-malarial area — no malaria.

Standard vaccines recommended (tetanus/diphtheria/polio) + consider Hepatitis A with your doctor depending on your profile.

A first-aid kit is available. Medical facilities are accessible nearby.

⚠️ Any specific condition (asthma, severe allergies, medication)? Please tell us before departure.

Signal, electricity, drones?
  • 📡 Signal — weak/absent in the jungle. Our guides carry appropriate communication tools.
  • 🔋 Electricity — available at bungalows. Bring a power bank.
  • 🚁 Drones — subject to regulations and park authorization. Please check before using.

A 20–30 L backpack is recommended. Suggested weight: 5–8 kg depending on your build and the season.
