Khao Yai is one of Thailand's largest tropical forests designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site, about 2 hours from Bangkok on the M6 motorway. It is a nature trek, not a cultural tour or a van circuit. Les Collines Khao Yai has operated here since 2005, the only resident English-speaking naturalist agency in the region.
Where do we sleep, and at what pace? We sleep in Pak Chong, in 7 villas and dormitories, 35 minutes from the park. The pace stays that of a holiday: breakfast at 7:00 AM with pastries, walks leaving around 8:00-8:30. Packages that include nights are full board.

As light fades, porcupines, civets, deer, and buffy fish-owls emerge into the forest's most active hours. This is the narrow window we work within, never an extended night hunt that disturbs the wildlife for an uncertain payoff. Less time, more encounters, zero disturbance.

Yes, from age 5. The Discovery and Adventure packages are ideal for families. The pace is adapted and our guides are experienced at trekking with children. Infants can join if carried in a backpack carrier (provided by parents).
All our treks are accessible. Discovery = easy walk on approved trails. Adventure = full day, fully modular. Explorer = more intense immersion for active travelers.
Khao Yai is home to over 400 wild Asian elephants roaming freely. Sightings are possible but never guaranteed, their presence depends on their natural movements. Gibbons, hornbills, deer, reptiles and raptors are seen far more regularly.
Yes. Every outing is supervised by an English-speaking tour leader, a local park guide, and a sworn forest ranger. All routes are 100% authorized, declared and monitored.
The cool season (November–February) is ideal: very active wildlife, walkable trails, pleasant nights. The wet season (May–October) offers lush jungle and spectacular waterfalls. See the table above and our month-by-month guide.
Khao Yai is a UNESCO primary forest with large wildlife (400+ elephants, gibbons, hornbills). Chiang Mai offers cultural treks through mountain secondary forest with hill-tribe villages. They are two complementary experiences, not interchangeable. Full comparison →

Treks still run, the jungle is even more alive in the rain. If there is a genuine risk (storms, high winds), we adjust the route or offer an alternative time slot.
Yes. Many guests aged 55 to 80 join the Discovery and Adventure packages. We adapt pace, distance and break frequency.
Rates are for the private group, not per person, in Thai baht. The most accessible package, the Discovery Trek (1 day), starts at 13,000 THB for 2 people, about 6,500 THB per person. Not for the Discovery, Adventure, Explorer and Safari Premium packages: the Bangkok - Pak Chong trip is not included, and we meet you in Pak Chong (hotel, bus station or train station). A private transfer from Bangkok can be arranged on request. It is included in From Red to Green, in Wild Expedition and in the Adventure Plus option.
Payment by Stripe, bank transfer, or cash in THB only. A deposit secures your date; the balance is due 7 days before arrival.
Up to 7 days before arrival, changes are free of charge. In case of unexpected events (illness, delayed flight), we offer flexible alternatives where possible.
